We sometimes need to loose to gain!

“You can start out of nothing, and out of nothing, and out of no way, a way will be made”

The final goal may seem so far away sometimes!

We may have those days that we ponder and sit there asking “when are things ever going to get better?”

Personally, I have those thoughts  sometimes too! I sometimes wonder whether this music management journey is for me. Is this really my calling? Will I ever be the next Yandy Smith? Of course I will!!

I remember starting my company GMG in 2012! Four years (and a bit) later, and I still am not where I want to be. I used to get angry and say “God why am I still in this situation? I’m still where I was last year!”

It started becoming a regular thing, every year I was getting more and more concerned, doubting myself a lot. But this year I entered with a whole new mindset!

God needed to mould me! He needed to prepare me! It takes ALOT to be in the music business, yes to the outside world it may look all glitzy and glammy, but there’s so much more to it. The sleepless nights, the let downs, the set backs, the stress, the anxiety! ( It’s not all negative though!)

The past four years have been interesting!  I was so lost I didn’t know my purpose, I didn’t know who I was!

Everybody finds their purpose eventually, some quicker than others! Mine personally took me a while, but I got there in the end.

I had to loose to gain though! I lost friends, I lost money, I lost myself, but in the process I have gained ten fold!

What you truly believe in is what will manifest in your life. I was so insecure and had such low self esteem that I honestly didn’t think I would ever make it, and all those doubts kept swirling round my mind.

Now I believe in all that I do! I sleep, eat, think in GMG! I believe so much in my clients and I know that success is inevitable for all of us.

“Whenever the enemy tries to stir up your emotions, calm down and do what God has called you to do!”

I am currently reading a book called “You are a badass. How to stop doubting your greatness and start living an awesome life” By Jen Sincero.

Such an interesting title but it made me really want to read it and now I cannot put it down! For any of you reading this blog post and sometimes have doubts in what you truly want to do in life, my friend this book is for you! (thank me later!)

Along your journey in life you may face obstacles and hit a point where you want to give up, but remove that doubt and channel it into positivity! We need to believe in ourselves at all times no matter what.

“If we really love ourselves, everything in our life works”

Last year I really enjoyed myself by travelling so much as I continued my journey of ‘finding myself’ but this year I want to focus on the growth. Now I know my purpose I want to focus on building my dream into a reality.

This year I’m ready to grind and take a few loses to get to the top! Who else is with me on this journey?

See you at the top!

12 Months of Travelling!

December 2015, on a flight to Verona Italy by myself to spend a few days winding down; I said “I’m going to travel every month for the next 12 months” I do enjoy travelling, but I felt like there were parts of the world that I needed to visit.

And so the journey began….

December 2015 – Verona, Italy – A random spontaneous trip. Can’t lie it was so cold, and I will never go there again in December. The temperatures dropped to -5C. Lovely place though!

January 2016 – Ghana – My solo trip to Ghana was AMAZING! It was the second time me going alone and I enjoyed every minute of it! Visiting friends and family, but also working and building connects. I was interviewed on two of the most popular radio stations and networked like crazy! Ghana is where I’m happiest, hot weather, traditional food, sandy beaches. “God bless our homeland Ghana”

February 2016 – Amsterdam, Holland – Business trip but you know when you work you still need to play too! Initially travelled to shoot a music video for an artist I was managing at the time. Was a very eventful trip, ending with a really good night partying with Wiz Kid and friends!

March 2016 – Guernsey, Channel Islands – My mum moved to Guernsey for work so I took myself there to visit her and give myself an excuse for a cheeky little trip away! Maybe not the best time to visit in terms of weather, it was so cold, but I had an enjoyable relaxing time. Hired a car and managed to explore the whole island in less than a day.

April 2016 – Barcelona, Spain – a fun trip with my bestie/cousin Myra! I had never been to Spain before so we decided to book a fun filled trip. Lovely weather, amazing scenery and such fun and respectable people! Would defo visit again! (The nudist beach was so hilarious – don’t ask how we ended up there)

May – Guernsey, Channel Islands (again) – This time I travelled with my besties (Chiz and Myra) and we went to visit my mum again and celebrate her birthday. Weather was so much better and we travelled to different islands to see the different cultures. Such a beautiful island! Would definitely recommend.

June – Amsterdam, Holland (again) – Nothing wrong with booking a random trip to Holland with your people’s! Of course we had fun, bike riding, site seeing and of course coffee shops 😝

July – Paris, France – Another spontaneous trip. Me and my partner found a nice cheap flight to Paris and enjoyed the iconic scenes, fine cuisine and shopping. Paris is definitely a place you need to visit in a life time!

August/September- Copenhagen, Denmark – On the way back from Paris we saw Copenhagen on the arrival screen and we thought “why not?” Checked the flights and they were as cheap as £30!! You can’t go wrong with a cheap flight and a cute Air BnB! What a clean and calm country! Such beautiful scenery and expensive food lol.

October – Crete, Greece – a little cheeky holiday with the girls to celebrate mine and my good friend Mercy’s birthday! One of my best trips to date! You can never go wrong with great company, sun, sea and cocktails! Would defo suggest hiring a car if you visit there, public transport isn’t the greatest and I swear the country is just full of mountains! Great for scenic pics though (I took plenty of those)

November – New York/New Jersey, America – The highlight of my 12 months of travelling thanks to my amazing circle! I was blessed to travel to NY to meet my inspiration; Love and Hip Hop’s Yandy Smith (read the full blog post: Go And Chase That Dream! https://gabriellemusicdiaries.wordpress.com/2016/11/07/go-and-chase-that-dream/) It was such an amazing way to end my 12 months of travelling. This solo trip really allowed me to find myself and gave me the inspiration and drive to be the next #FemaleBoss! America is such a interesting country, I had not been in 8 years, and I had never been alone so it was so surreal and I loved every single second!

Travelling doesn’t need to be expensive, you can book a 3 day European getaway fit about £100! It’s just about shopping around.

2016 should me how determined I can be! I said I wanted to travel every month, and I made sure that nothing came in the way of that! If we all apply that same determination to our goals in life, success would be inevitable!

2017 I won’t travel as much, I’m “trying” to save, however there are a few countries on my mind that I feel I need to visit so stay tuned.

Live your life to the fullest!

The Best Is Yet To Come!

Hello everyone! Firstly I want to apologise for my absence, it’s been a while since I last blogged. Over the Christmas I was ill with the flu and was recovering over the New Year, but I’m back now!

How was your Christmas and New Year?! Hope you all had a great time and you are ready and fuelled for the new year?

Me In Paris

What a year 2016 was! I can honestly say it was a REAL eye opener for me. Ups and downs but it was definitely the year of self discovery!

I really learnt about myself last year, I realised how much I doubted myself in the past, and I also realised that with the right people around you, the only way is UP!

Rewind back to December 2015, on a flight to Italy, I said I want to travel throughout the year of 2016 and I did it!

Crete living!

I boarded a plane this year more times than I have in the last 10 years of my life! What a record!! Countries I visited included Ghana, Amsterdam, Guernsey, Barcelona, Paris, Crete, Copenhagen and New York. Travelling with friends and also alone, I experienced new cultures, different lifestyles and created unforgetful memories!

Trip to Copenhagen with my best friend/cousin and partner

2016 I met the love of my life! After coming out of a six year relationship I never thought I would find someone that loves me for ME! But God blessed me with the most amazing boyfriend! So loving, caring and supportive! Fears fuelled my spirit as I was scared to introduce my new boyfriend to family, I was scared my parents wouldn’t accept him, I was scared they would compare him to my last boyfriend, but the fear was for no reason at all. ALL my friends and family love him, and now I feel like I can live my life happily and build my future with him. God is truly amazing, as my body clock ticks and I get older, finding someone to love was honestly a myth, but the timing was perfect and I am so overwhelmed with the way he has blessed me.

My rider/best friend/partner

2016 was the year of growth and facing my fears! After loosing my dear friend Nisi to Cancer, I experienced some type of depression. I could not talk to anyone about my feelings, I did not want to leave the house, I couldn’t eat which made me loose weight, I honestly could not come to terms with the loss. Why would God take her away from us? But with time my heart healed, I will have my down days, but what I learnt from this is that we can never question God!

R.I.P Nisi (our last pic together)

Although it was the saddest experience of my life, I made new friends who I now call family. I was able to put on my first ever solo event which sold out in remembrance of Nisi, and with that I was able to raise money to give to her family for Christmas. God is GOOD!

I made new friends this year, I rekindled friendships, and also drifted from some friends too, with time you can tell which paths you will follow and unfortunately not all your paths will be the same. It’s okay to loose friends and make new ones, the main key recipe is that you are surrounded by nothing but positivity!

Rekindled my friendship with my Uni girls

2016, I completed another music diploma which allowed me to learn so much, which I have now applied to my business – GMG. We have now signed a new client (DJ FYO) and with the help of friends business is booming and I cannot wait to see what God has in store for me. GMG also shot a video for an upcoming Nigerian artist – Rush, which was a huge success, (type Rush – Attention into YouTube to see the final product).

I met my role model, Yandy Smith (Love and Hip Hop/ Music manager and entrepreneur) as I embarked on a solo trip to America. I can honestly say it was a huge highlight of my entire LIFE!

Meeting Yandy Smith in New York

The latter of the year involved me getting together with some friends to form a team called ‘The Creatives’ and together we have worked on a project called BK Chat Ldn, which has received sooooo much support from the public. In just two months we have over 70,000 subscribers and over a million views on the channel! How great is our God?!

Myself and Creator/Director of BK Chat Ldn

My fitness journey has been great! I’ve always loved going to the gym, but this year I reached goals I did not even know was even possible. I have been able to motivate people through my fitness journey too, whatever you put your mind too, you will succeed! I honestly feel so good, and if I don’t mind saying I think I look good too hehe.

My and my partner at a church sports day

2016, I grew closer to God, my walk with Christ has not been so smooth sailing but this year was honestly so rewarding. I attend church regularly now, I found a home at Hillsong, Bermondsey which I now attend with my partner. I pray every single day, always thank God that you woke up, not everyone does!

*takes a deep breath*

I really learnt about myself this year, I learnt that patience is KEY! You cannot expect everything to just fall in your lap, you need to grind hard, a few sleepless nights may be on the cards, but success is my motivation! That should be yours too!

“God gives us struggles, not to stay, they come to pass. BUT just be patient, this just means God is working on you to prepare you for your success”

I learnt that when you put ALL your faith in God! Anything you desire, pray on it, believe in it, and execute it! Speak all your desires into existence!

I cannot wait to see what God has in store for me this year! I’m so ready and excited to grow, build and succeed in every attribute of my life!

I hope I can continue to motivate you guys with my blog posts too! I’m working on a new project and I’m super excited for you guys to see this so just make sure you stay tuned!

I pray for nothing but success and happiness for you all.

Keep your circles tight, make sure everything and everyone around you is full of positivity and you will go a LONG way trust me!

Till we meet again (and I promise it won’t be long) Ciao x

The BEST friends anyone could ask for (Mercy and Myra)
